Rhode Island College Women’s Volleyball Update #2

(7-5 Overall; 2-1 in the Little East Conference)

Providence, RI--Head Coach Craig Letourneau’s team is 7-5 overall and 2-1 in the Little East Conference. The Anchorwomen are tied with Keene State for third place in the LEC.

Anchorwomen Notables

• RIC began the week with a 3-0 win at WPI on Wednesday, Sept. 14. Junior middle hitter Erin Miga (Cranston, RI) led the way with nine kills and seven blocks. Senior outside hitter Kristy Nix (East Setauket, NY) had five kills, eight digs and three blocks. Sophomore middle hitter Madison Greene (Cranston, RI) recorded a career-high eight kills in the win. The tandem of sophomore setters Amy Souza (Tiverton, RI) and Jeanne Rosa (Madison, CT) combined for 32 assists with 20 and 12, respectively.

• The Anchorwomen opened Little East Conference competition by hosting a round robin with Eastern Connecticut, UMass Dartmouth and UMass Boston on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 16 & 17. RIC breezed through its first two matches, downing UMB and UMD, 3-0. RIC had a four-match winning streak stopped with a 3-1 loss to ECSU.

• Nix had an outstanding week with 44 kills, a .252 hitting percentage, 43 digs and 16 blocks in 13 games. She had 22 kills and 20 digs in the loss to ECSU and ten kills and 11 blocks in win over UMB.

• Miga also performed well with 40 kills, a .386 hitting percentage, three aces, 15 blocks and ten digs in 13 games. She had 13 kills in win over UMB and nine kills and three blocks in loss to ECSU.

• Senior libero Stephanie Wojciechowski (North Kingstown, RI) led the club with 44 digs last week. She also had seven kills in the win at WPI.
