Coach Ryan Angel’s team is 8-2 overall and 2-1 in the Little
East Conference. The Anchorwomen are currently in third place in the
Little East Conference. |

RIC’s 8-2
record is the best ten-game start to a season since the 1999 squad
also went 8-2 in their first ten contests. The Anchorwomen are riding
a season-best five-game winning streak. |

•
The
Anchorwomen defeated Framingham State, 6-1, in non-conference action
last week on Wednesday, Sept. 28. Sophomore forwards Ashley
Teixeira (Warren,
RI)
and Jessica Cardinal (Harrisville,
RI)
each scored twice, while junior forward Erika Haaland (North
Dartmouth, MA)
and sophomore
forward Gina Calenda (Warren,
MA)
also added goals. Sophomore midfielder Leah Hayes (Coventry,
RI)
had two assists. Freshman goalkeeper Krissie Pyzynski (Bristol,
CT)
made four saves. |

RIC earned
its second Little East Conference victory of the season with a 1-0
overtime win at UMass Dartmouth on Saturday, Oct. 1. Haaland scored
the “golden goal” a mere 45 second into the extra session to lift RIC
to victory. Pyzynski made 14 saves to earn her fourth shutout of the
season.
For
her efforts in both games, Pyzynski was named the Little East
Conference Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week for the second time this
season. |

MacKinnon,
Haaland and Cardinal have two game-winning goals apiece. Haaland moved
into seventh in career points at RIC (17-2-36). She is tied for fourth
in career goals. |
