Women’s Volleyball Update #4

(13-9 Overall; 2-2 in the Little

Coach Craig Letourneau’s team is 13-9 overall and 2-2 in the
Little East Conference. RIC is tied for fourth place in the Little
East Conference with UMass Dartmouth and Western Connecticut. |

• RIC opened a
busy week with a disappointing, 3-2, loss at Little East Conference
opponent Western Connecticut on Wednesday, Sept. 27. Senior outside
hitter Kristy Nix (East
Setauket, NY)
posted a solid overall game with 22 kills, 20 digs, two aces and four
blocks in a losing effort. Junior middle hitter Erin Miga (Cranston,
RI)
had 16 kills and six blocks, while sophomore setter Jeanne Rosa (Milford,
CT)
recorded a team-high 33 assists. |

• The
Anchorwomen won the annual Rhode Island College Invitational on Oct.
1, going a perfect 4-0 over the two-day tourney. Senior libero
Stephanie Wojciechowski (North
Kingstown, RI)
was named the Tournament’s Most Valuable Player. She had 61 digs, 12
kills and four aces over the weekend. Rosa and freshman middle hitter
Mikaela Smith (Hampton,
NH)
were also named to the All-Tournament Team. Rosa had 98 assists at the
tourney, while Smith had 28 kills, 15 digs and eight blocks. |

• Miga is
closing in on several RIC records. She needs six blocks to surpass
Brandee Trainer’s ’02 mark of 374. She is currently in second
place with 838 career kills. She trails Trainer’s all-time mark of 941
by 103. |

Wojciechowski was named the Little East Conference Women’s Volleyball
Defensive Player of the Week. |
