East Conference. The Anchorwomen are currently in fourth place in the

RIC was
the hard-luck loser in a 2-1 overtime loss at Wesleyan on Tuesday,
Oct. 18. The Anchorwomen held a 1-0 lead until the 82nd
minute when the Cardinals tied the contest and forced an extra
session. Junior forward Erika Haaland (North Dartmouth, MA) had
RIC’s goal, freshman midfielder Kendra Gerrish (North Stonington,
CT) notched an assist and freshman goalkeeper Krissie Pyzynski
(Bristol, CT) made ten saves in a losing effort. |

The
Anchorwomen came back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat LEC foe Plymouth
State, 4-2, on Saturday, Oct. 22. Sophomore forward Jessica
Cardinal (Harrisville, RI) scored the team’s first goal in the 57th
minute and the go-ahead marker in the 69th minute. Senior
back Katie Benevides (North Dighton, MA) scored the tying goal
in the 61st minute, launching a looping shot from 45 yards
out that PSU senior goalkeeper Hayley Quinones (Waitsfield, VT)
misplayed. Sophomore forward Gina Calenda (Warren, RI) also
scored 27 seconds after Cardinal’s second goal to round out the
Anchorwomen’s offensive output. Calenda, Haaland and sophomore
midfielder Leah Hayes (Coventry, RI) notched assists in the
win. Pyzynski made three saves to improve her record to 10-4. |

the program record for the most wins in a season (10) in the victory
over Plymouth State. |
