Anchorwomen
Notables |
|
• RIC went 1-1
at the final Little East Conference Round Robin, hosted by Easter
Connecticut on Saturday, Oct. 22. The Anchorwomen lost to Plymouth
State, 3-2, and defeated Southern Maine, 3-0, to close out regular
season LEC play.
RIC
is the fourth seed in the upcoming Little East Conference Women’s
Volleyball Tournament and will host fifth-seeded UMass Dartmouth on
Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. |

• The
Anchorwomen were up 2-1 on Plymouth State before the Panthers came
back and won game four, 32-30, and game five, 15-12, to take the
match. Senior outside hitter Kristy Nix (East
Setauket, NY)
had 26 kills and 18 digs. Junior middle hitter Erin Miga (Cranston,
RI)
had 11 kills, six blocks and three service aces. The setter tandem of
sophomores Amy Souza (Tiverton,
RI)
and Jeanne Rosa (Milford,
CT)
combined for 56 assists with 29 and 27, respectively. Senior libero
Stephanie Wojciechowski (North
Kingstown, RI)
recorded a team-high 21 digs. |

• RIC bounced
back from the PSU loss with a decisive, 3-0, win over Southern Maine.
Nix led the squad with six kills, while Miga and senior right side
hitter Sara Chamberland (Coventry,
RI)
each posted four. Souza had 15 assists and Rosa had ten, while
freshman middle/right side hitter Mikaela Smith (Hampton,
NH)
had five blocks. |

• Earlier in
the week, RIC downed Salem State, 3-0, at home on Thursday, Oct. 20.
Sophomore right side hitter Sherri Heard (Coventry,
RI)
posted a match-high 13 kills. Wojciechowski had seven kills, three
service aces and six digs. Junior defensive specialist Kara
Sarcione (Londonderry,
NH)
logged a
match-high five service aces and ten digs. Souza and Rosa combined for
38 assists with 20 and 18, respectively. |

• RIC will
close out the regular season at home against Connecticut College on
Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.
It
will be Senior Day for Chamberland, Nix and Wojciechowski. |
