Rhode Island College Names John Rafail
as an Assistant Men’s and Women’s
Track and Field Coach

 

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College has named John Rafail as an assistant men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field coach. He will work primarily with the team’s sprinters.

 

“I am very excited to join the Rhode Island College athletic staff and work with the track teams. The indoor season is right around the corner and I can’t wait to start working with Head Coach Kevin Jackson, Assistant Coach Patty Testa and the teams.”

 

The Hermitage, Pennsylvania native has seven years of coaching experience on both the high school and collegiate levels. He was most recently an assistant coach with the track teams at Willcox High School (AZ) from 2003-05 where he worked with the team’s sprinters. He was an assistant coach with the track teams at Hickory High School (PA) from 1999-02. Rafail was an assistant football coach at Thiel College from 1999-01, working with the team’s defensive backs.

 

Rafail earned All-Conference honors in both the 100 and 200 meter dash, as well as the 4x100 meter relay, as a sophomore at Bethany College (WV) in 1996. He was a two-year letterwinner in track and a three-year letterman as a defensive back in football.

 

He earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Bethany College in 1999.

 

He resides in Providence with his wife Bethany.
