Four RIC Players Earn All-Little
East Conference Honors in Men’s Soccer
Kyle Teixeira Named Co-Offensive Player of the Year

Providence, RI—Four
members of the Rhode Island College men’s soccer team have been named
All-Little East Conference. |
|
|
|
Senior
forward Kyle Teixeira (Warren,
RI)
was named the Little East Conference Men’s Soccer Co-Offensive Player
of the Year. He shares the honor with Western Connecticut junior
forward Bradley Fidler (West Lawn, PA). Teixeira led the Little
East Conference in goals and was second in points. This is the third
time in his career that Teixeira has been named the top offensive
player in the LEC, having been selected as a freshman in 2002 and as a
junior in 2004. |

He was also
named First Team All-Little East Conference for the fourth consecutive
season. He has played in 19 games, starting 18 of them. He has 17
goals and nine assists for 43 points. Teixeira is RIC’s all-time
leader in goals (80) and points (185), and is second in assists (25). |

|
Teixeira is only the second player in Little East Conference Men’s
Soccer history to earn First Team All-LEC honors in each of his four
seasons and Offensive Player of the Year
honors three times. |

|
Senior
midfielder Matt Borges (New
Bedford, MA)
was named
First Team All-Little East Conference. He has played in 17 games,
starting 15 of them. He has one goal and two assists for four points.
Borges was named Second Team All-Little East as a freshman in 2002. |

Freshman
midfielder Tyrell Burgess (Smiths,
Bermuda)
was named Second Team All-Little East Conference. He has played in 16
games, starting 14 of them. He has four goals and five assists for 13
points. He is second on the club, trailing Teixeira, in all three
categories. |

Junior
defender James Lynch (Jamestown,
RI)
was named Second Team All-Little East Conference. He has played in 16
games, starting all of them. He has one goal for two points. |

In upcoming
action, Head Coach John Mello’s team is the second seed in the
2005 ECAC New England Div. III Men’s Soccer Tournament and will host
seventh-seeded Castleton State on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 1:30 p.m. The
Anchormen are 9-5-5 on the season. |
