Chris O’Connors Named Little East Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College freshman outfielder/designated hitter Chris O’Connors (North Kingstown, RI) was named the Little East Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week.

He has played in 14 games, starting all of them, on the season. He is batting .542 (26-for-48) with ten runs scored, 26 hits, six doubles, two home runs and 16 RBI. He owns a .792 slugging percentage, a .621 on-base percentage and a 1.000 fielding percentage. O’Connors leads the team in batting, hits, doubles, home runs and RBI.

Head Coach Jay Grenier’s team is currently 5-9 on the season. In upcoming action, RIC will host Coast Guard on Tuesday, Mar. 28, play at Salem State on Thursday, Mar. 30 and open Little East Conference play against nationally-ranked Southern Maine at home on Saturday, Apr. 1.
