Chris O’Connors Named Little East
Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week
|

Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College freshman outfielder/designated hitter Chris
O’Connors (North Kingstown, RI) was named the Little East
Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive
week. |

|
|
O’Connors went 7-for-13 for a
.538 batting average in a 2-2 week for the Anchormen. He also
accumulated five runs scored, three RBI, one double and five walks. He
went 3-for-6 with two runs scored and two RBI in a doubleheader
between the Anchormen and Southern Maine on Saturday, Apr. 1. |

He has played in 18 games,
starting all of them, on the season. He is batting .541 (33-for-61)
with 15 runs scored, 33 hits, eight doubles, two home runs and 19 RBI.
He owns a .770 slugging percentage, a .632 on-base percentage and a
.917 fielding percentage. O’Connors leads the team in batting, hits,
doubles, home runs and RBI. He is currently riding an 18-game
hitting streak, notching at least one base hit in each of his first 18
games as a collegiate baseball player. |

Head Coach Jay Grenier’s
team is currently 7-11 on the season. In upcoming action, RIC will
host Bridgewater State this afternoon at 3:30 p.m., UMass Dartmouth on
Thursday, Apr. 6 at 3:30 p.m. and travel to Keene State for a noontime
doubleheader with Owls on Saturday, Apr. 8. |
