went 2 for 5 with a pair of RBI, but Rhode Island College junior

Greenwich, RI)
went 3 for 5 with four RBI, including what proved to be the
game-winning two-run double in the eighth inning that helped lift the
visiting Anchormen to an 11-6 win over the Blazers in Tuesday night’s
non-conference baseball game at MacKenzie Stadium. |

Rhode Island College won
for the fifth time in its last six games to even its record at 14-14
overall. Elms College lost its third straight game and fell to 5-21
overall. |

|
With the game tied at 6-6
in the top of the eighth, Henault delivered his two-run double to deep
left center field to give the Anchormen an 8-6 lead. |

|
|
Rhode Island College
sophomore relief pitcher
Eric Fama (Wappingers
Falls, NY) then
came in and threw two scoreless innings of relief to earn his third
win of the season. |

|
|
The Anchormen plated two
runs in the first and added single tallies in both the third and fifth
innings to take a 4-3 lead. |
|
|
|
Rhode Island College then
escaped a one-out, bases loaded jam in the bottom of the fifth when
freshman pitcher
Kyle Jones (Middleboro, MA)
forced Elms College sophomore shortstop
Nathan Hawes (New
Hope, MN) to hit
into an inning-ending double-play to preserve the Anchormen’s one-run
lead. |

Rhode Island College then
plated a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to extend its lead to
6-3. |
|
|
|
In the bottom of the sixth,
the Blazers tallied a pair of unearned runs to pull within 6-5 then
tied the game at 6-all on Furey’s RBI single to center field. |

|
|
The Anchormen, however,
responded by plating five runs over the final two innings to seal the
victory. |
|
|
|
Elms College returns to
non-conference play when it hosts Fitchburg State College on Thursday,
April 20. Game time is 7:00 p.m. |
