Anchormen Down Rams, 8-5 |

|
|
Framingham, MA-The
Framingham State College baseball team closed out their season today
with an 8-5 loss at Bowditch Field to Rhode Island College. With the
win, Rhode Island College improves to 18-18 on the season, while the
Rams finish the season at 5-26. |

The Rams put up three runs in the
bottom of the first on an RBI single by senior Jake Scoppetto, an RBI
sacrifice fly by junior Marcus Buzanoski and on error by Rhode Island
College that allowed Scoppetto to score unearned. |
|
|
|
RIC scored a single run in the
third and headed into the fourth inning trailing by two, 3-1. In the
fourth shortstop Josh Cardoso belted a two run homer to left off the
Rams starter Nick Billings that tied the scored at 3-3. In the top of
the fifth RIC aded two more runs to take a 5-3 lead and force Billings
from the game. |

The Rams were able to chip into
RIC’s lead in the bottom of the fifth when Scoppetto singled in his
second run of the day to cut the deficit to 5-4. Sophomore Evan
Beauvais came onto pitch for the Rams and held RIC scoreless in the
sixth and seventh. In the bottom of the seventh, the Rams tied the
score at five on an RBI double by Scoppetto that scored DH James
Caudle. |

In the top of the eighth RIC broke
the tie as third baseman Bobby Fournier scored on a wild pitch by
Beauvais to give RIC the 6-5 lead. Rhode Island College would add two
more runs in the inning on an RBI double by Ray De La Cruz and an RBI
single by Brian Burrows. |

Kyle Jones came on and pitched a
scoreless eighth for Rhode Island College and Eric Fama came on for a
scoreless ninth to pick up his third save of the season. Cardoso
finished the game 3 for 4 with two runs scored and two RBI, while De
La Cruz finished 3 for 5 with three runs scored and an RBI. |

Scoppetto finished the day 3 for 5
with three RBI and a run scored, while Caudle was 3 for 3 with three
runs scored. |
