Rhode Island College Announces
2005 Fall Sports MVPs
|

|
|
|
|

RI--
The Rhode Island College Department of Intercollegiate
Athletics, Intramurals and Recreation held its annual Fall Banquet at
RIC’s Donovan Dining Center on Monday, Nov. 21 to honor those
student-athletes who participate in varsity fall athletics. Each sport
gave out their Most Valuable Player Award. |

Men’s Soccer
|
|
Sophomore
goalkeeper Sean Gonsalves (Somerset,
MA)
was named the men’s soccer team’s MVP. He played in ten games this
fall, posting a 5-0-4 record with 0.28 goals against average, 34
saves, a .919 save percentage and six shutouts in 952:59 of action. He
made nine saves in RIC’s, 2-0, shutout win over Clark University in
the Championship Game of the 2005 ECAC New England Div. III Men’s
Soccer Tournament. |

criminal justice major and a 2004 graduate of Somerset High School. |

Women’s Soccer
|
|
Sophomore
midfielder Krista MacKinnon (Exeter, RI) was named the women’s
soccer team’s MVP. A First Team All-Little East Conference selection,
MacKinnon played in 18 games, starting all of them. She had six goals
and six assists for 18 points on the season. She led the team in
assists and was tied for the team lead in points. |

MacKinnon
is an elementary education major with a concentration in special
education and a 2004 graduate of Exeter-West Greenwich High School. |

Women’s Tennis
|
|
Senior Liz Barrette (North Providence, RI) was named the
women’s tennis team’s MVP. Barrette was 11-3 at number one singles and
15-2 at number one doubles for 18.5 points on the season. She teamed
with freshman Megan Hall (Smithfield, RI) to win the number one
doubles flight at the 2005 Little East Conference Women’s Tennis
Championships. |

She is a physical education/health major and a 2001 graduate of La
Salle Academy. |
|
|
Women’s Volleyball
|
|
Senior libero Stephanie Wojciechowski (North Kingstown, RI) was
named the women’s volleyball team’s MVP. A Second Team All-Little East
Conference selection, she played in 126 games in 56 matches. She led
the team with 497 digs, a new RIC record for a single season.
Wojciechowski was fourth on the team with 49 service aces.

2000 graduate of North Kingstown High School. |

|
Men’s Cross Country
|
|
Junior
Eric Lonergan (North Kingstown, RI) was named the men’s cross
country team’s MVP. He earned All-ECAC honors, placing eighth (265
runners) at the ECAC Championships with a time of 26:13. He earned
All-Alliance/Little East honors, for the second consecutive year,
placing seventh (110 runners) at the Alliance Championships with a
time of 26:10. |

He is an education major and a 2003 graduate of North Kingstown High
School. |

Women’s Cross Country
|
|
Freshman
Hannah Clark (Attleboro, MA) was named the women’s cross country
team’s MVP. She was RIC’s top runner in each of the squad’s nine meets
this fall. She posted a season-best time of 22.38, placing 41st,
at the Alliance/Little East Conference Championships. |

She is an elementary education major and a 2005 graduate of Attleboro
High School. |
