Owls Snap Four-Game Losing Streak and Keep Anchorwomen

Providence, RI—Keene
State junior guard Bri Barnes (Merrimack,
NH) led all scorers
with 16 points as the Owls defeated Rhode Island College, 69-45, in a
battle of Little East Conference rivals. KSC snaps a four-game losing
streak as it improves to 9-8 overall and 4-3 in the LEC. RIC falls to
7-9 overall and 0-7 in the LEC on the season. |

Keene dominated for the first
half and led by as many as 24 points before going ice cold in the
second frame. The Owls went without a made field goal from the 16:13
mark to the 6:24 mark, a span of 9:49. RIC went on a 19-0 run during
that time span to cut the Owls’ lead to 50-45. KSC responded by
outscoring RIC, 15-4, down the stretch to earn the victory. |

Barnes hit three big
three-pointers in the win to go along with four boards, three assists
and two steals. Senior forward Stacey Morse (Lebanon,
NH) had ten points
and seven boards, while junior forward Caitlin Jamiel (Cranston,
RI) had seven
points and four boards off the bench. |

RIC junior forward Kari
Geisler (Deerfield,
NH) posted her
seventh double-double of the season with 11 points and a game-high 13
rebounds in a losing effort. |

In upcoming action, RIC will
host UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 5:30 p.m. Keene State will
host Plymouth State on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 5:30 p.m. |
