Anchorwomen fall to 2-9 in the Little East |

Providence, RI—Western
Connecticut handed Rhode Island College a 57-36 loss in a battle of
Little East Conference women’s basketball rivals. The Anchorwomen’s 36
points was the lowest offensive output of the season for the team,
which also shot a season-low 25 percent from the field. The
Anchorwomen fall to 10-11 overall and 2-9 in the LEC. The Colonials
improve to 11-11 overall and 6-5 in conference action. |

Both teams struggled on both
ends of the floor as they combined for 46 turnovers (RIC: 25, WCSU:
21). |
|
|
|
Western Connecticut freshman
guard Jennifer Kancler (Columbia,
CT) led all scorers
with 14 points, highlighted by a 4-for-8 three-point performance.
Junior forward Mallory Stevens (Seymour,
CT) had ten points,
six rebounds and two steals. Freshman forward Stacey Roberts (Windham,
CT) had 11 points
and seven rebounds. |

Sophomore forward Josalee
Danieli (New
Gloucester, ME) was
the lone bright spot for RIC with a ten-point effort. |

In upcoming action, RIC will
host Wellesley on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. The Colonials will play
at Keene State on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. |
