2005 Rhode Island College Men’s Cross
Country
|
Season Summary
|
|
Providence, RI--Head
Coach Kevin Jackson’s team closed out the 2005 season at
the NCAA New England Regional Div. III Championships, hosted by
Springfield College, on Saturday, Nov 12, and placed 25th
(43 teams) with a team score of 784. |
|
|
|
The
Anchormen competed at the ECAC Div. III Championships, hosted by
Connecticut College on Nov. 5 and placed 18th overall (38
teams) with a score of 487. |
|
|
|
RIC placed
seventh overall (ten teams) with a team score of 178 at the Little
East/MASCAC Alliance Championships, hosted by Westfield State on
Saturday, Oct. 29. The Anchormen placed fourth (five teams) among
Little East institutions with a team score of 100. |
|
|
|
Senior
Tim Goodwin (Warwick,
RI)
closed out
his career as an Anchorman this fall. Goodwin’s fastest time at RIC
was 27:52 set during his sophomore season in 2003. |
|
|
|
As a senior
in 2005, he placed 183rd with a time of 29:28 at the New
England Championships on Nov. 12. He was 108th with a
season-best time of 27:56 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 5. He
finished 55th with a time of 29:02.82 at the Alliance
Championships on Oct. 29. He placed seventh with a time of 24:32 (shortened
course) at a tri-meet with Mitchell at Eastern Connecticut on Oct.
15. He was 30th with a time of 29:44 at the Tri-State
Invitational on Oct. 1. He finished 37th with a time of
30:20 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 24. He placed 14th
with a time of 17:59 (shortened course) at the Ocean State
Invitational on Sept. 8. |

|
As a junior
in 2004, Goodwin placed 35th with a season-best time of
28:01 at the Alliance Championships. Goodwin placed 61st
with a time of 21:52 at the Plansky Invitational (shortened course).
He placed sixth at the RWU Invitational with a time of 29:58. He
finished fourth at the Ray Dwyer Invitational with a time of 30:06. He
finished 133rd at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational with a
time of 28:47. He was the Anchormen’s top runner placing fourth with a
time of 30:07 at the Rhode Island Collegiate Invitational. |

|
As a
sophomore in 2003, Goodwin placed 131st with a time of
29:09 at the New England Div. III Championships. He finished 28th
with a time of 28:27 at the Alliance Championships. He placed 238th
with a season-best time of 27:52 at the New England Open
Championships. He placed 33rd with a time of 30:28 at the
Tri-State Championships. He finished 14th with a time of
29:28 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational. He was the top RIC runner at the
UMass Dartmouth Invitational, placing 85th with a time of
28:38. He finished seventh with a time of 29:06 at the Ocean State
Invitational. |

|
Prior to
transferring into RIC, Goodwin attended Manhattan College in 2001. He
is a communications major and a 2001 graduate of Bishop Hendricken
High School. |

|
|
Senior
Manny Karngar (Providence,
RI)
closed out
his career as an Anchorman this fall. Karngar’s fastest time at RIC
was 26:25 set this fall at the ECAC Championships. |

|
|
As a senior
in 2005, he placed 118th with a time of 27:59 at the New
England Championships on Nov. 12. He was 21st overall with
a season-best time of 26:25 at the ECAC Championships on Nov. 5. He
finished 30th overall with a time of 27:57.11 at the
Alliance Championships on Oct. 29. He was third overall with a time of
23:55 (shortened course) at a tri-meet with Mitchell at Eastern
Connecticut on Oct. 15. He placed second overall with a time of 28:46
at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 8. He sixth with a time of
28:15 at the Tri-State Invitational on Oct. 1. He finished seventh
with a time of 28:43 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 24. He was
112th with a time of 27:47 at the UMass Dartmouth
Invitational on Sept. 17. He placed seventh with a time of 17:40 (shortened
course) at the Ocean State Invitational on Sept. 8. |

|
As a junior
in 2004, Karngar placed 166th with a time of 29:57 at the
New England Championships. He was RIC’s top runner at the ECAC
Championships, placing 77th with a time of 29:16. He earned
All-Alliance/Little East honors, placing 18th with a
season-best time of 27:01 at the Alliance Championships. Karngar
placed 102nd with a time of 23:02 at the Plansky
Invitational. He finished fourth at the Ray Dwyer Invitational with a
time of 29:51. He finished 180th at the UMass-Dartmouth
Invitational with a time of 30:02. |

|
As a
sophomore in 2003, Karngar was the Anchormen’s top runner at the ECAC
Div. III Championships, placing 24th overall with a time of
28:05. He was RIC’s top runner at the Little East Conference/MASCAC
Alliance Championships, finishing 14th with a time of
27:22. He placed 33rd with a time of 20:39 at the Plansky
Invitational (shortened course). He finished 30th
with a time of 31:16 at the Roger Williams Invitational. He was the
top RIC runner at the New England Open Championships, placing 166th
with a team season-best time of 26:56. He finished 13th at
the Tri-State Championships with a time of 29:01. He placed 12th
with a time of 29:01 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational. |

|
As a
freshman in 2002, placed 146th at the New England Div. III
Championships with a time of 28:01. Karngar placed 33rd at
the ECAC Div. III Championships with a time of 28:08. He placed 54th
at the Alliance Championships with a time of 29:13. Karngar placed 24th
with a season-best time of 26:29 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.

Junior
Eric Lonergan (North
Kingstown, RI)
was RIC’s
top runner in every meet and named the team’s MVP. He placed 86th
overall with a time of 27:18 at the New England Championships on Nov.
12. He earned All-ECAC honors, placing eighth overall with a time of
26:13 at the ECAC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 5. He earned
All-Alliance/Little East honors for the second consecutive season by
placing seventh overall with a time of 26:10.67 at the Alliance
Championships on Oct. 29. He placed first overall with a time of 22:56
(shortened course) at a tri-meet with Mitchell at Eastern
Connecticut on Oct. 15. He finished first overall with a time of 28:06
at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 8. He placed second overall
with a time of 27:29 at the Tri-State Invitational on Oct. 1. He was
second overall with a time of 27:37 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on
Sept. 24. He placed 62nd with a time of 26:42 at the UMass
Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 17. He placed third with a time of
17:16 (shortened course) at the Ocean State on Sept. 8. |

Greg Ahnrud (Chepachet,
RI)
placed 193rd overall with a time of 29:41 at the New
England Championships on Nov. 12. He was 172nd with a time
of 29:22 at the ECAC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 5. He was 56th
with a time of 29:11.92 at the Alliance Championships on Oct. 29. He
placed fifth with a time of 24:31 (shortened course) at a
tri-meet with Mitchell at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 15. He was 19th
with a time of 31:06 at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 8. He
finished 25th with a season-best time of 29:24 at the
Tri-State Invitational on Oct. 1. He placed 167th with a
time of 28:59 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 17. He
placed 19th with a time of 18:43 (shortened course)
at the Ocean State Invitational on Sept. 8. |

placed 204th overall with a time of 30:09 at the New
England Championships on Nov. 12. He was 197th with a time
of 30:26 at the ECAC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 5. He was 65th
with a time of 29:33.62 at the Alliance Championships on Oct. 29. He
placed 12th with a time of 26:01 (shortened course)
at a tri-meet with Mitchell at Eastern Connecticut on Oct. 15. He
finished 33rd with a time of 32:01 at the Roger Williams
Invitational on Oct. 8. He was 51st with a time of 31:57 at
the Tri-State Invitational on Oct. 1. He was 55th with a
time of 32:07 at the Ray Dwyer Invitational on Sept. 24. He was 217th
with a time of 31:12 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 17.
