Providence, RI—Number
one ranked Southern Maine outscored Rhode Island College 34-17 in the
second half on its way to a 72-57 win on Saturday afternoon. The
Huskies improve to 21-1 overall and stay unbeaten in the Little East
Conference with a 12-0 mark. The Huskies have won their last 57 games
against LEC competition. RIC falls to 10-13 overall and 2-10 in the
Little East. |

Rhode
Island College came out clicking on all cylinders in the first half
and led by as many as ten points. The Anchorwomen shot 62 percent
(16-for-26) and outrebounded USM 24-14 in the first half. The Huskies
came on strong in the second frame led by senior forward Ashley
Marble (Topsfield,
ME)
who scored
a game-high 26 points to go along with ten rebounds. Senior forward
Megan Myles (Auburn,
ME)
had 14
points and eight rebounds. Junior forward Shannon Kynoch (South
Burlington, VT)
had 11 points to round out USM’s leaders. |

forward Kari Geisler (Deerfield,
NH)
posted her tenth double-double of the season with 18 points and 11
rebounds. Sophomore forward Josalee Danieli (New
Gloucester,
ME)
had ten
points. |
