Angell
and Geisler Named
All-Little East Conference
Feeney Named to All-Defensive Squad; Martin to All-Rookie Team

Providence,
RI—Rhode
Island College senior guard Jamie Angell (Cranston,
RI) and junior
forward Kari Geisler (Deerfield,
NH) were named
Second Team All-Little East Conference for their performance in
women’s basketball this season. Sophomore forward Colleen Feeney (Providence,
RI) was named to
the LEC All-Defensive Team, while freshman guard Tyla Martin (Woonsocket,
RI)
was named to the All-Rookie Team. |

Angell, a First
Team All-LEC selection as a junior, played in 26 games this winter,
starting 23 of them. She averaged 12.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.1
assists and 1.3 steals per game. She was third in the conference in
scoring, eighth in assists and led the conference in three-point field
goal percentage at 40 percent (44-for-110). She was named the LEC’s
Player of the Week once on the season. |

|
This is the
third consecutive season that Geisler has earned Second Team All-LEC
honors. She played in 26 games, starting 25 of them. She averaged a
double-double for the season, posting a 11.2 points-per-game average
to go along with a 10.6 rebounds-per-game mark. She also averaged 1.0
assists and 1.0 steals per game. She led the LEC in rebounding and was
tenth in scoring. |

Feeney played
in 25 games, starting all of them. She averaged 11.8 points, 8.2
rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals per game. Feeney was sixth in the
LEC in scoring, third in rebounding, seventh in field goal percentage
at 48 percent (104-for-216), fourth in free throw percentage at 76
percent (86-for-113) and second with 33 blocks, an average of 1.3 per
game. |

|
Martin played
in 26 games, starting 19 of them. She averaged 5.0 points, 2.1
rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.0 steals per game. |
|
|
|
Head Coach
Spencer Manning’s team finished the season with a 12-14 overall
record and a 4-10 (sixth place) mark in the Little East Conference.
The Anchorwomen were eliminated from the 2006 Little East Conference
Women’s Basketball Tournament in a 69-48 loss to third-seeded Eastern
Connecticut on Feb. 21. |
