Gavin & Haaland to Captain Rhode Island College Women’s Soccer

Providence, RI—Rhode Island College has named senior midfielder Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth, RI) and senior forward Erika Haaland (North Dartmouth, MA) as women’s soccer team captains for the 2006 season.

As a junior in 2005, Gavin played in 18 games, starting all of them. She had three goals and three assists for nine points.

As a junior in 2005, Haaland played in 18 games, starting 14 of them. She was tied for the team lead with seven goals and added one assist for 15 points.

First-year Head Coach Denis Chartier’s team opens up the 2006 season at home vs. Fontbonne on Sunday, Sept. 3 at noon. The Anchorwomen were picked to finish fourth in the Little East Conference Women’s Soccer Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
