Dave Paquette Named Assistant
Wrestling Coach
at Rhode Island College
|

|
Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College has named Dave Paquette as an assistant
wrestling coach. He will assist Head Coach Jay Jones with all
phases of the RIC wrestling program including recruiting, scouting,
administering practices and match coaching. He will also help
coordinate academic progress for the team. |
|
|
|
A
two-year standout for the Anchormen, Paquette excelled on and off the
mat. He played a key role as Rhode Island College captured the 2003-04
Pilgrim League title with a perfect 6-0 mark. In 56 matches, Paquette
compiled an individual record of 33-23 (.589) and 132 points,
including 97 takedowns, 23 reversals, 14 near-falls and five pins. |

|
|
In
his senior campaign in 2004-05, he solidified the middle of the lineup
with a 21-13 record at 157 lbs. Paquette recorded a career-high in
points (79), takedowns (69), and reversals (14). The 2004-05 All-New
England grappler placed sixth at the New England College Conference
Wrestling Association (NECCWA) Championships. |

For
his efforts in the classroom, Paquette was named to the 2004-05 NCAA
Division III Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American squad.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from
Rhode Island College in 2006. |

|
|
Prior to joining Rhode Island College, Paquette grappled two seasons
at Johnson & Wales, registering an individual record of 31-31. |
|
|
|
A
native of Ledyard, Connecticut, Paquette has been a project manager at
Moran Shipping Agencies for the past three years. |
|
|
|
He
is single and resides in Norwich, Connecticut. |
