Heather Pettigrew Named Assistant
Women’s Basketball Coach at Rhode Island College
|

Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College has named Heather Pettigrew as an assistant
women’s basketball coach. She will assist Head Coach Spencer
Manning with all phases of the RIC women’s basketball program
including recruiting, scouting, administering practices and game
coaching. |

|

|
|
In
her only season with Rhode Island College in 2003-04, the Cranston,
Rhode Island native made an immediate impact as the Anchorwomen posted
a 16-11 overall record, including a 7-7 mark within the Little East
Conference. The team was 3-23 the season prior to her arrival. A
starter in 12 of 27 games, she finished second on the team in points
(254), rebounds (181), assists (39), and steals (52). A versatile
forward, Pettigrew recorded three double-doubles. A consistent scoring
threat, Pettigrew reached double digits in scoring in 11 games,
including a 16-point effort to lead the Anchorwomen to a 54-46 victory
against Western Connecticut State in the quarterfinal round of the
Little East Tournament. She also ranked seventh in the conference in
total rebounds, including pulling down 74 in the offensive end. |

|
Prior to joining the Anchorwomen, Pettigrew thrived in her two seasons
at the Community College of Rhode Island. A two-time First-Team
All-England selection, she left CCRI as the Knights’ fifth all-time
leading scorer (700 points). |

|
She
earned a bachelor’s degree in management in technology from Rhode
Island College in 2006. In addition to her coaching duties, Pettigrew
is working at Federal Electronics. |
