Anchorwomen defeat Vikings, 3-1 |

SALEM, Mass.—The
Rhode Island College women’s volleyball team defeated Salem State
College, 3-1, this evening in non-conference action. Senior outside
hitter Erin Miga (Cranston, RI) paced the Anchorwomen with
eight kills to raise their overall record to 9-7. |

RIC cruised
in the opening match, downing the hosts, 30-11. The Vikings (0-7)
righted the ship in the second stanza, edging the Anchorwomen, 30-26.
With the match tied at one-game apiece, RIC closed out the match with
two consecutive decisive victories, 30-16 and 30-24, to collect its
third win in the past four matches. |

First-year
outside hitter Sharon Corriveau (Coventry, RI) and classmate
middle hitter Breana Coyne (Chepachet, RI) both ripped six
kills each, while junior setters Jeanne Rosa (Milford, CT) and
Amy Souza (Tiverton, RI) handed out a combined 38 assists.
Senior defensive specialist Kara Sarcione (Londonderry, NH) and
Rosa created offensive opportunities with nine digs apiece. |

to action at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 30, when the Anchorwomen host
Framingham State at The Murray Center. |
