RIC IMPROVES CONFERENCE WINNING STREAK
TO 29 MATCHES
|
|
Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College captured its fourth consecutive Little East Conference
Women’s Tennis Regular Season Title in an 8-1 win over UMass Dartmouth
on Saturday afternoon. The Anchorwomen finish the regular season with
a 13-1 overall record and a perfect 7-0 mark in LEC play. Rhode Island
College has won 29 consecutive Little East Conference regular season
matches, having not lost a league contest since falling, 5-4, at
Plymouth State on Sept. 14, 2002. |

|
Head Coach
Kelly Chartier’s club will be looking to win their third Little
East Conference Women’s Tennis Tournament Championship in the past
four seasons when they travel to UMass Dartmouth on Oct. 20-21. A win
at the tourney would give the Anchorwomen a berth in the NCAA Div. III
Women’s Tennis Tournament, which is played in the spring. 2006 marks
the first season the Little East Championship winner receives an
automatic bid to the NCAAs. |
