ANCHORWOMEN TAKE TWO AT LEC TRI-MATCH
Miga & Greene Help RIC to 4-1 Conference Mark

ME—Rhode
Island College took two important matches at a Little East Conference
Women’s Volleyball tri-match, hosted by Southern Maine on Saturday
afternoon. The Anchorwomen improve to 18-10 overall and 4-1 in the
Little East Conference heading into the final week of the regular
season. |

Rhode
Island College had no problem with host Southern Maine and it downed
the Huskies in three straight games. Senior middle hitter Erin Miga
(Cranston, RI) and junior outside hitter Madison Greene
(Cranston, RI) led the squad with 10 kills apiece. Junior setter
Jeanne Rosa (Milford, CT) totaled 20 assists. Freshman outside
hitter Sharon Corriveau (Coventry, RI) and senior libero
Stephanie Wojciechowski (North Kingstown, RI) totaled eight and
seven digs, respectively. |

The
Anchorwomen were forced to come back from a 2-1 deficit in their match
against Keene State. After falling, 30-22, in game one, RIC evened the
contest with a game two, 30-28, victory. The Owls dominated RIC in
game three, 30-15, before the Anchorwomen came back with an equally
impressive win in game four, 30-18, then held on to win, 15-11, in the
fifth and deciding game. Four Anchorwomen recorded 10 or more kills in
the match as Miga posted a team-high 14. Greene and junior right side
hitter Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) registered 13 apiece, while
Corriveau totaled 12. Rosa and junior setter Amy Souza (Tiverton,
RI) combined for 51 assists with 26 and 25, respectively. Miga had
five blocks, while Wojciechowski had 21 digs. |

In upcoming
action, RIC will play at Connecticut College on Wednesday, Oct. 25,
then travel to Western Connecticut for the final Little East
Conference tri-match of the regular season with the Colonials and
UMass Boston. |
