ANCHORWOMEN LOCK UP SECOND SEED
IN UPCOMING LEC TOURNAMENT
RIC Splits at LEC Regular Season Finale

Danbury,
CT—Rhode
Island College finished up the regular season at a Little East
Conference tri-meet hosted by Western Connecticut. The Anchorwomen
went 1-1 on the day, first falling to the host Colonials, 3-2, then
downing UMass Boston, 3-0. Rhode Island College improved to 19-12
overall and 5-2 in the Little East Conference. The club’s five
conference wins ties the program record (2004) for the most LEC wins
in a season. |

Head Coach
Craig Letourneau’s team will be the second seed in the upcoming
2006 Little East Conference Women’s Volleyball Tournament and, along
with top seed Eastern Connecticut, will receive a bye in the first
round. Rhode Island College will face the winner of the UMass
Dartmouth
vs. Plymouth State first round match at tournament host Eastern
Connecticut on Friday, Nov. 3 in the semifinals. The Championship
Match will be played at ECSU on Saturday, Nov. 4. |

Freshman
outside hitter Sharon Corriveau (Coventry, RI) led RIC with 12
kills in the loss to Western Connecticut. She also logged two service
aces and 15 digs. Senior middle hitter Erin Miga (Cranston, RI)
and junior right side hitter Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) each
registered 11 kills. Junior setters Amy Souza (Tiverton, RI)
and Jeanne Rosa (Milford, CT) combined for 45 assists with 23
and 22, respectively. Senior libero Stephanie Wojciechowski (North
Kingstown, RI) logged a team-high 17 digs. |

The
Anchorwomen rebounded from the Western Connecticut loss with a 3-0
victory over UMass Boston. Junior outside hitter Madison Greene
(Cranston, RI) led RIC offensively with 12 kills. Rosa handed out
20 assists, while Souza logged 16 helpers. Wojciechowski and
Corriveau led the team in digs with eight and six, respectively. |
