Rhode Island College Men’s Cross Country
Places 29^th at ECAC Championships

Williamstown, MA—The Rhode Island College men’s cross country team placed 29^th overall (40 Teams) with a score of 851 at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Div. III New England Cross Country Championships, hosted by Williams College on Saturday, Nov. 4. Williams won the meet with a score of 31.

Head Coach Kevin Jackson held the Anchormen’s top runner, senior Eric Lonergan (North Kingstown, RI), out of the race in preparation for next week’s NCAA Regional Championships.

Junior Greg Ahnrud (Chepachet, RI) was RIC’s top finisher, placing 151^st overall with a time of 29:42. Freshman Jim Smith (Saunderstown, RI) placed 171^st with a time of 29:59, junior Mike Van Gieson (Foster, RI) placed 187^th with a time of 30:32, sophomore David Simpson (West Warwick, RI) placed 188^th with a time of 30:33, sophomore Bryan Diggle (Scituate, RI) placed 210^th with a time of 31:16 and junior Greg Clark (Pawtucket, RI) rounded out the RIC contingent, placing 234^th with a time of 32:33.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the New England Div. III Regional Championships, hosted by Springfield College on Saturday, Nov. 11.
