Rhode Island College Hosts Annual
Invitational
in Men’s Track & Field Action

Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College hosted its annual men’s track & field invitational on
Saturday, Mar. 31. It was an individual meet with no team scoring. |

|
Junior Mike Van
Gieson (Foster, RI) placed first in the 800 meters with a time of
1:57.76. |
|
|
|
Senior Eric
Lonergan (North Kingstown, RI) placed first in the 1,500 meters
and second in the 800 meters with times of 4:02.19 and 1:59.00,
respectively. |
|
|
|
Senior Dan
Newman (Smithfield, RI) placed first in the 110 meter hurdles,
high jump and the triple jump with a time of 16.68 and leaps of 1.88
and 11.99, respectively. |
|
|
|
Freshman Max
Willett (Portsmouth, RI) placed first in the long jump and second
in the javelin with distances of 6.10 and 48.17 meters, respectively. |
|
|
|
Senior Richard
Palazzo (Johnston, RI) placed first in the hammer with a throw of
48.14 meters. |
|
|
|
Junior James
Polak (Smithfield, RI) placed second in the hammer and third in
the discus with distances of 38.76 and 35.85 meters, respectively. |

|
|
In upcoming
action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Bryant University
Invitational on Saturday, Apr. 7. |
