RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE’S NICOLE RILEY
TIES NCAA DIV. III RECORD FOR CONSECUTIVE WINS |

|
Milton, MA—Rhode
Island College senior pitcher Nicole Riley (North Providence, RI)
tied the NCAA Div. III softball record for the most consecutive wins,
notching her 35th straight victory, in the Anchorwomen’s,
3-1, win over Curry on Thursday afternoon. The 35 wins ties the record
established by Janet Nagle from St. Thomas (Minn.) in 2006. |

Riley helped RIC to the victory, allowing just four hits and one run,
on a solo home run, to go along with eight strikeouts. |
|
|
|
Riley last lost,
7-0, to Plattsburgh State on Mar. 17. 2006 during the Anchorwomen’s
spring trip to Florida to see her record dip to 3-2 at the time. She
powered RIC to a 9-2 victory at Roger Williams in her next outing on
Mar. 23, 2006 and did not lose the remainder of the season to finish
with a 26-2 overall record. |

Riley is currently
12-0 on the season with a 0.18 ERA and 87 strikeouts. She has allowed
just five runs, only two of which are earned, in 79.1 inning pitched.
She is Rhode Island College’s all-time career wins leader, posting a
60-15 record. |

Maria Morin’s team is 16-2 overall, 2-0 in the Little East
Conference and ranked 18th nationally in the latest
National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Weekly Div. III Poll.

Riley will have a
chance to break the record when Rhode Island College hosts Roger
Williams on Monday, Apr. 9 at 4 p.m. |
