Lonergan & Van Gieson Earn First Place
Finishes at Swanson Invitational |

Middletown, CT—The
Rhode Island College men’s outdoor track and field team
took part in the Elmer J. Swanson Invitational, hosted by Wesleyan
University on Saturday, Apr. 14. It was an individual meet with no
team scoring. |

Junior
Mike Van Gieson (Foster, RI) placed first in the 800 meters with a
time of 1:59.16. |
|
|
|
Senior
Eric Lonergan (North Kingstown, RI) placed first in the 1,500
meters with a time of 4:03.16. |
|
|
|
Senior
Dan Newman (Smithfield,
RI)
placed fourth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.33 and third
in the high jump with a leap of 1.86 meters. He also placed eighth in
the triple jump with an 11.91 meter effort. |

Senior
Rich Palazzo (Johnston, RI) placed fourth in the hammer with a
throw of 47.92 meters. |
|
|
|
Junior
Greg Ahnrud (Chepachet, RI) placed third in the 800 meters with a
time of 4:14.70. |
|
|
|
In
upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Silfen
Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday, Apr. 21. |
