Fleming Place First at Silfen Invitational |

New London, CT—Head
Coach Kevin Jackson’s women’s outdoor track and field team
competed at the Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College
on Saturday, Apr. 21. The Anchorwomen placed sixth (14 teams) with a
score of 73. Coast Guard won the meet with a score of 142.50. |

Sophomore Mary Ellen Horsman (Barrington, RI)
placed first in the weight throw with a distance of 43.99 meters. |

Kayla Fleming (Pawtucket, RI) placed first in the long jump with
a leap of 4.78 meters. |

Sophomore
Ashley Nyzio (Pawtucket, RI) placed second in the javelin with a
39.02-meter effort. |

Freshman
Stephanie Bucci (Smithfield, RI) placed sixth in the shot, fifth
in the discus and fifth in the hammer with distances of 10.42, 29.64
and 43.99, respectively. |

Freshman
Elizabeth Ann Glunt (Altoona, PA) placed third in the long jump
at 4.51 meters and 10th in the 400 meters with a time of
1:08.29. |

In upcoming
action, Rhode Island College will compete at the Little East
Conference/MASCAC Alliance Championships, hosted by Fitchburg State
on Saturday, Apr. 28. |
