Gavin &
Duffy Named First Team
All-Little East Conference in Women’s Lacrosse
Gavin Named LEC Co-Offensive Player of the Year

Providence,
RI—Rhode
Island College senior center Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth, RI) and
junior defender Erin Duffy (North Dighton, MA) were named First
Team All-Little East Conference for their performance in women’s
lacrosse this past season. |

|
|
Gavin, who was
also named the LEC’s Co-Offensive Player of the Year, earned First
Team All-LEC honors for the fourth consecutive season. She played in
14 games starting all of them. She had 52 goals and 10 assists for 62
points to go along with 63 ground balls and 59 draw controls. Gavin
scored the game-winning goal in each of the club’s three wins this
season. Her name sits
atop almost every statistical record in Rhode Island College women’s
lacrosse history. She is the Anchorwomen’s all-time leader in shots
(573), goals (279), assists (45), points (324), ground balls (339) and
draw controls (292). Gavin holds numerous single-season and game
records as well. |

Duffy, who was
also named the team’s MVP, played
in 14 games, starting all of them. She recorded four
goals and one assist for five points to go along with 51 ground balls. |
|
|
|
Head Coach Denis Chartier’s team finished the 2007 season with
a 3-11 overall record and a 1-5 (sixth place) mark in the Little East
Conference. The Anchorwomen bowed out of the 2007 Little East
Conference Women’s Lacrosse Tournament with a first round, 12-11,
double-overtime loss at Keene State on May 1. |
