Rhode
Island College Earns 3
All-New England Honors in Baseball
|

Providence, RI—The Rhode
Island College baseball team placed three student-athletes on the
New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-New
England Teams this afternoon. Sophomore shortstop Josh Cardoso
(Dartmouth, MA) and senior right fielder Mike Naylor (Warwick, RI)
were named to the second team, while senior catcher Tim Henault (East Greenwich, RI)
represented the Anchormen on the third team. |

Cardoso is
making his debut on the All-New England Second Team as a shortstop
after earning All-Little East Conference Second Team honors less
than 24 hours ago.
He played in 34 games, starting all of them. Cardoso batted .398
(53-for-133) with 39 runs scored, six doubles, three triples, seven
home runs, 33 RBI and four stolen bases. He logged a .647 slugging
percentage, a .452 on-base percentage and a .886 fielding
percentage. Cardoso led the team in batting and runs scored, was
tied for second in homers, and was second in both hits and RBI. |

Naylor earned
Second Team All-New England honors for the first time in his career.
The First Team All-Little East Conference outfielder played in 35
games, starting all of them. He batted .380 (49-for-129) with 33
runs scored, 12 doubles, one triple, seven home runs, 38 RBI and
five stolen bases. Naylor owned a .651 slugging
percentage, a .468 on-base percentage and a .975 fielding
percentage. The team MVP led the squad in RBI, was tied for first in
homers, tied for second in doubles, and was third in hits. |

Henault is
also making his first appearance on the All-New England Third Team.
The three-time All-Little East Conference catcher played in 33 games, starting all of
them. He batted .388 (54-for-139) with 37 runs scored, 12 doubles,
two triples, three home runs, 25 RBI and six stolen bases. Henault owned
a .568 slugging percentage, a .439 on-base percentage and a .969
fielding percentage. He led the team in hits and was second in
runs scored, stolen bases and was tied for second in doubles. |

Head Coach
Jay Grenier’s team finished the season with a 21-14 overall
record and an 8-6 mark (third place tie) in the Little East Conference. RIC’s 21 wins ties the 2006 edition’s total for the most victories
in a season since the 1979 squad won 24. |
