Second-half rally leads RIC past PSU Women’s Basketball |

Anchorwomen hand struggling Panthers sixth straight setback |

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Rhode Island College opened the
second half with a 22-10 run to overcome a one-point deficit, and the
Anchorwomen went on to defeat Plymouth State University, 75-50, in a
Little East Conference women’s basketball game at Foley Gymnasium. |

Senior Kari Geisler (Deerfield,
N.H./Pinkerton) led the Anchorwomen with a double-double, scoring
15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Junior Josalee Danieli (New
Gloucester, Maine) added 13 points and eight boards, while
freshman Erica Pisaturo (Greenville, R.I.) came off the bench
in the second half to make four three-pointers and finish with 12
points. |

Junior Lauren Daniels (Concord,
N.H.) led the Panther effort, finishing with a team-high 12 points
and nine rebounds. Freshman Karly Gray (Southampton, Mass.)
contributed 11 points, and senior Ashley White (Merrimack,
N.H.) finished with eight points and nine boards. |

RIC won its third straight game overall and improved to
7-2 and evened it LEC mark at 1-1. PSU dropped its sixth straight
contest and fell to 1-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play. |

It was a close game throughout the first half, five lead
changes and neither team leading by more than four points. White hit
a pair of free throws for PSU with five seconds on the clock to give
the home team a 26-25 lead at the break. |

The Anchorwomen rallied to an 11-point margin (47-36)
with 11 minutes remaining on the second half clock, and pulled away
from there. Both teams shot 32 percent from the floor in the first
half, but the visitors improved to 45 percent after the break while
PSU connected at a 29 percent clip in the second half. |

Rhode Island College returns to action 7:30 p.m. on Dec.
12, when the Anchorwomen travel to Wesleyan University (Conn.) in
non-conference action. |
