ANCHORMEN EXTEND WIN STREAK TO EIGHT
Four Players Score in Double Figures in Win Over Southern Maine |

Providence,
RI—Rhode Island College won its eighth consecutive game in a 67-58
victory over Southern Maine at The Murray Center on Tuesday evening.
RIC improves to 11-1 overall and 3-1 in the Little East Conference.
The Anchormen’s record after 12 games is the best start to a season
since the 1970-71 team opened the year with 13 consecutive victories. |

The Huskies got on
the board in a hurry, going on a 7-0 run to open the contest. The
veteran Anchormen battled back to take a six-point, 35-29, lead into
halftime. USM made several runs in the second stanza, but the
Anchormen held off the Huskies to earn the conference win. |

Four Anchormen
scored in double figures, led by senior guard Kinsey Durgin’s
(Greenwood, ME) 13-point effort. Senior center Anthony
Pierlioni (Plainville, CT), forward Brian Stanko (Swansea, MA)
and guard Kamari Williams (Springfield, MA) each totaled 11
points. Stanko drilled a game-high three treys, while Williams had
four boards, five assists and a steal. Durgin also grabbed a team-high
seven boards and made three steals. |

Southern Maine
junior forward Drew Coppenrath (Barnet, VT) posted a
double-double with a game-high 15-point, 15-rebound effort. Sophomore
guard Troy Gabriele (Camden, ME) had 15 points in 19 minutes
off the bench. |
