Men’s Indoor Track Competes at Southern Maine Invitational
Newman, Lonergan & Van Gieson Earn First Place Finishes |
|

|
Gorham, ME—Head
Coach Kevin Jackson’s team competed at the Southern Maine
Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 27. The Anchormen placed fourth
(seven teams) with a team score of 96. |
|
|
|
Senior Dan Newman (Smithfield, RI) placed first in the high
jump with a leap of 1.82 meters. He also placed fifth in the triple
jump with a leap of 11.92 meters. |
|
|
|
Senior Eric
Lonergan (North Kingstown, RI) placed first in the 5,000 meters
with a time of 15:57.76 and second in the 800 meters at 2:03.89.
For his efforts, he was named the Little East Conference Men's
Indoor Track Athlete of the Week. |

|
|
Junior Mike Van Gieson (Foster, RI) placed first in the 800
meters with a time of 2:03.78. |
|
|
|
Freshmen Kyle Duguay (Cumberland, RI) and Max Willett
(Portsmouth, RI) finished first and second, respectively, in the
55 meters with times of 6.87 and 6.88. Willett was also fourth in
the triple jump at 12.04 meters. |
|
|
|
In upcoming action, the Anchormen will at the University of Rhode
Island on Friday, Feb. 2. |
