LATE GAME HEROICS LEAD RIC PAST EASTERN CONNECTICUT
Mullen & Knott Spark Anchorwomen to Overtime Victory |

Providence, RI—Rhode
Island College earned a dramatic come-from-behind victory in overtime,
69-63, to down Little East Conference rival Eastern Connecticut at The
Murray Center on Saturday afternoon. The Anchorwomen improve to 13-8
overall and 5-5 in the LEC, earning their third consecutive conference
win. The Warriors fall to 12-9 overall and 4-6 in league action. |

Rhode Island College had a bleak look heading into halftime, trailing,
32-24. The Warriors went on an 18-10 run to close out the first stanza
and led by 18 points with 10:21 left in the game. The Anchorwomen,
capitalizing on 12 Warrior turnovers, went on a 22-6 run to tie the
game, 56-56, and force overtime. Freshman guard Alice Mullen (Saunderstown,
RI)
scored 10 of RIC’s 13 points in the extra session to pick up the
much-needed LEC win. The Anchorwomen outscored the Warriors, 35-13,
from the 10:21 mark of the second half. |

Freshman forward Jennifer Knott (Narragansett, RI), along with
Mullen, were the catalysts in the comeback. Knott scored the first
seven points in the Anchorwomen’s run and finished with nine points,
eight boards and two steals. Mullen drilled three treys in the run,
finishing the game with 16 points, five steals and two rebounds. |

Junior forward Josalee Danieli (New
Gloucester, ME)
kept RIC in the game early, shooting 7-for-10 from the field,
finishing up with 14 points, four rebounds and three steals.

The Anchorwomen kept the ball away from Eastern Connecticut sophomore
forward Ashley McFetridge (Canton,
CT),
who had logged a double-double by halftime, in the second half. She
finished with 18 points and 17 rebounds, while senior forward Sandy
Mosley (Goshen, CT) also recorded a double-double with a game-high
22 points and 13 boards. |

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will play at Western
Connecticut on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 5:30 p.m. Eastern Connecticut will
host Keene State College on the same day. |
