Rhode Island College Wrestling Drops Two Pilgrim League Matches
Bonora Continues Streak With Two Victories |

|
Gorham, ME—Rhode
Island College fell to 11-8 overall and 1-2 in the Pilgrim Wrestling
League, losing two matches at a tri-meet hosted by Southern Maine on
Saturday, Feb. 3. The Anchormen lost to Roger Williams, one of the top
teams in the New England College Conference Wrestling Association,
27-14, to open the day’s action. After the Hawks tied the hosts,
21-21, RIC lost a tight match to hosts, 24-23. |

Junior Mike Bonora (Nutley, NJ) increased his impressive win
streak to 23 matches and now owns a 37-3 mark at 141 lbs. on the
season. Bonora, currently ranked second in New England, defeated
Andrew Hawley from Roger Williams, 10-5, and picked up a win via a
technical fall (17-2) over Nick Spencer from USM. |

Sophomore Steve Goncalves (Cumberland, RI) went 2-0 at 125 lbs.
He defeated Jeremiah Mahoney from RWU, 14-10, and Rob
Normandin, 8-7, from Southern Maine. |

|
Junior Brendan Casey (Lowell, MA) went 2-0 at 174 lbs. to up
his record to 16-6. Casey, who owns a modest six-match win streak,
defeated Chris Nadeau, 7-2, from Roger Williams and Chris
Belyue from Southern Maine, 16-5. |

In
upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host a Pilgrim League
tri-meet against Coast Guard and Johnson & Wales on Tuesday, Feb. 6
beginning at 5 p.m. It will be Senior Night, as Rhode Island College
seniors Andrew Algarin (Leominster, MA), Ian Coyne (Amston,
CT), Ryan DeSisto (Warwick, RI), Luis Feliz (Cranston, RI), Ray Hanley (Wantagh, NY),
Eric Martell (Chepachet, RI) and Arty Privedenyuk
(Springfield, MA) will be honored prior to the JWU match at
approximately 8:30 p.m. |
