Men’s Indoor Track Competes at URI Indoor Mega Meet
Newman, Lonergan & Van Gieson Lead RIC Against Div. I Foes |

Kingston, RI—Head
Coach Kevin Jackson’s team competed at the University of
Rhode Island’s Mega Meet on Friday, Feb. 2. The Anchormen tied for
seventh place (nine teams) with a team score of 21. |
|
|
|
Senior Eric
Lonergan (North Kingstown, RI) placed fifth in both the mile and
the 800 meters with times of 4:22.17 and 1:57.76, respectively. He
was the lone Div. III competitor to finish in the top ten of the
mile. |
|
|
|
Junior Mike Van Gieson (Foster, RI) placed fourth in the 800
meters with a time of 1:57.64 with the three runners ahead of him
hailing from Div. I institutions. |
|
|
|
Senior Dan Newman (Smithfield, RI) placed fourth in the high
jump with a leap of 1.90 meters with the three competitors ahead of
him hailing from Div. I institutions. |
|
|
|
In upcoming action, the Anchormen will at the Little East/MASCAC
Alliance Championships, hosted by Tufts on Saturday, Feb. 10. |
