DANIELI & GEISLER HELP RIC CRUISE TO 18-POINT WIN
ANCHORWOMEN POST 15th VICTORY |
Providence, RI—Rhode Island College
women's basketball team earned its 15th victory of the season on
Senior Night, defeating UMass
Dartmouth, 60-42, in Little East Conference action this evening at
The Murray Center. The Corsairs, who remain winless in league play with an 0-13 mark,
fall to 5-19 on the season. |
Rhode Island College's 15 victories are the most in a single-season
in the past three campaigns, since the 2004 squad posted 16.

The Anchorwomen honored their two senior forwards Kari Geisler
(Deerfield, N.H.) and Brittany Rosen (Derry, N.H.), who
were playing in their last home regular season contest, prior to the
start of the game.
RIC trailed early in the first frame (8-7), before exploding on a
15-0 run to open up a commanding 23-7 lead. The Anchorwomen outscored the
Corsairs, 24-7, to close out the half and never looked back. |
Junior forward Josalee Danieli (New Gloucester, ME) was one
of four Anchorwomen to reach double figures in scoring with a
team-high 16 points and 12 rebounds, to go along with two assists
and four steals. Geisler
led all rebounders with 15 boards and chipped in with 15 points. It
was Geisler’s 10th double-double of the season and
Danieli’s fourth. |
Sophomore guard Tyla Martin (Cumberland, RI) had 14 points,
while senior forward Rosen registered 10
points, four assists and three steals. |
UMass Dartmouth sophomore guard Vicki Andruszkiewicz (Danvers,
MA) led all scorers with 16 points. |
Rhode Island
College controls its own destiny in
heading into its regular season finale, when the Anchorwomen travel
to UMass Boston at 1 p.m. on Feb. 17. Head Coach Spencer
Manning's charges will host Eastern Connecticut in the
quarterfinal round of the 2007 Little East Conference Tournament
with a victory over the Beacons. If Rhode Island College drops its
tilt with the UMass Boston, the Anchorwomen will travel to the
Colonials on Feb. 20. |
