Kari Geisler & Josalee Danieli Named
All-Little East Conference in Women’s Basketball

Providence, RI— Rhode Island College senior forward Kari Geisler (Deerfield, NH) and junior forward Josalee Danieli (New Gloucester, ME) were named Second Team All-Little East Conference for their performance in women’s basketball this season.

     Geisler earned Second Team All-LEC honors for the fourth consecutive season. She has played in 26 games, starting 24 of them. She is averaging 12.2 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game. She currently has 1,171 points and 1,002 career rebounds, making her only the second player in Rhode Island College women’s basketball history with 1,000 or more points and rebounds. She is second all-time at RIC in rebounding and seventh in career scoring. She was named to the Little East Conference Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll twice this season.

     Danieli is making her first appearance on the All-Little East Conference teams. She has played in 25 games, starting 23 of them. She is averaging 12.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Danieli leads the team in scoring, is second in rebounding and fourth in assists. She has achieved career-highs in points (308) and rebounds (165).

Head Coach Spencer Manning’s team has earned a berth in the Eastern College Athletic Conference New England Div. III Women’s Basketball Tournament. The Anchorwomen are making their first appearance in the eight-team field for the first time since the 1997-98 cagers advanced to the semifinal round.

Rhode Island College (16-11) earned the eighth seed and will travel to top-seeded Colby Sawyer College (22-5) at 7 pm. on Feb. 28. Ticket prices will be $4 for general admission and $2 for students.

In other ECAC tourney action, second-seeded WPI will host seventh-seeded Nichols, third-seeded Endicott will host sixth-seeded Castleton State and fourth-seeded Wheaton will host fifth-seeded Suffolk.
