LYONS REMAIN UNBEATEN IN, 5-0,
SHUTOUT VICTORY
Anchorwomen Suffer Second
Consecutive Loss

ranked Wheaton College remained unbeaten with a 5-0 win over Rhode
Island College on Thursday evening. The Lyons, who haven’t allowed a
goal in their last 431:36 of action, raised their record to 5-0-1 on
the season. The Anchorwomen fall to 1-2-1 overall. It was the most
goals allowed by RIC since Oct. 27, 2005 when the Anchorwomen lost
(5-1) at Keene State. |

Wheaton got
on the board in a hurry as freshman forward Melida Alvarez
(Saugus, MA) fired a shot passed RIC sophomore goalkeeper
Krissie Pyzynski (Bristol, CT) in the 11th minute.
The Lyons scored off a free kick in the 29th minute as
sophomore back Lyndsey McManus (Marshfield, MA) lofted a ball
that bounced right to senior midfielder Jenna Rabesa (Teaticket,
MA) inside the box from 35 yards out. Wheaton added another
tally right before halftime as freshman forward Emily Hough
(Norwich, VT) headed in a ball from a sophomore forward Katie
Watson (Langley, WA) crossing pass. |

The Lyons
added two markers in the second half as freshman midfielder
Barrie Lindsay (Ipswich, MA) scored her first collegiate goal in
the 59th minute and junior forward Bailey Edwards
(Austin, TX) scored in the 83rd minute. |

|
Wheaton
sophomore goalkeeper Abby Issac (Larchmont, NY) made four
saves to earn the shutout victory in her first start this fall.
Pyzynski made eight saves as her record falls to 1-1-1. |

Rabesa and
Hough each recorded three points with a goal and an assist in the
win. |
|
|
|
In upcoming
action, Rhode Island College will open the 2007 Little East
Conference circuit at UMass Boston on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m.
Wheaton will host Husson on Sunday, Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. |
