RYAN KELLEY & MIGUEL SAGASTUME EARN WEEKLY

LITTLE EAST MEN’S SOCCER HONORS

 

 

Providence, RI – Rhode Island College sophomore midfielder Ryan Kelley (Hope, RI) and freshman forward Miguel Sagastume (Providence, RI) were honored by the Little East Conference for their performance in men’s soccer last week.

 

Kelley was named the Little East Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. He scored both of RIC’s goals, including the overtime game-winner, in the Anchormen’s, 2-1, win over Johnson & Wales on Sept. 13. He also scored the game-winner in RIC’s, 5-2, win over LEC rival UMass Boston on Sept. 15. He currently leads RIC in goals (4) and points (nine). He has figured in five of RIC’s 11 goals on the season. Kelley is a transfer from the University of Maine.

 

Sagastume was named the Little East Conference Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week. After six games of coming up short, Sagastume notched his first collegiate goal, assist and points in RIC’s win over UMass Boston. He is tied for second on the team with 18 shots, while ranking fourth with three points.

 

Head Coach John Mello’s team is 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the Little East Conference. In upcoming action, RIC will host Bridgewater State on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 3:30 p.m.
