KIMIYO GARCIA AND TESS HEIDEL EARN
LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL WEEKLY ACCOLADES |

Providence, RI –
Rhode Island College senior middle blocker Kimiyo Garcia
(Riverside, RI) and freshman hitter Tess Heidel (Warwick, RI)
were honored by the Little East Conference for their performance in
three matches last week. |
|
|
|
Garcia was
named the Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Week for
the second time this fall. She led the Anchorwomen with a team-high
39 kills, a .429 hitting percentage, 13 service aces, 19 digs and
eight blocks in a 3-0 week. For the season, she has played in 76
games in 22 matches, totaling 311 kills, a .353 hitting percentage,
202 digs, 43 service aces and 86 blocks. |

|
Heidel was
named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week. She blasted 22
kills, including 10 in RIC’s, 3-0, shutout win over LEC rival UMass
Dartmouth on Oct. 2. For the season, she has played in 47 games in
16 matches, totaling 58 kills, seven service aces, 50 digs and seven
blocks. |

Head Coach
Luis Carvalho’s team is currently 13-9 overall and 2-1 in the
Little East. In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host
Lasell on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. at The Murray Center. |
