ANCHORWOMEN GO 1-2 AT RHODY
INVITATIONAL

Providence, RI—The
Rhode Island College women’s volleyball team went 1-2 at the Rhody
Invitational, hosted by Johnson and Wales, on Sunday, Oct. 14. The
tourney featured the four Div. III women’s volleyball teams from
Rhode Island as Roger Williams and Salve Regina joined the
Anchorwomen and the Wildcats. |

Despite
taking the first two games against Salve Regina, the Anchorwomen
were unable to close out the Seahawks, who won the next three frames
to win the match. RIC senior middle blocker Kimiyo Garcia
(Riverside, RI) led the team with 19 kills to go along with four
service aces, 11 digs and four blocks. Freshman hitter Tess
Heidel (Warwick, RI) posted 11 kills and nine digs, while
sophomore libero Jackie Gervais (Woonsocket, RI) registered
11 digs. |

Rhode
Island College came back to blank Roger Williams, 3-0. Garcia posted
15 kills and six digs, while senior hitter Sherri Heard
(Coventry, RI) logged seven kills. Freshman setter Nicole
Enos (Coventry, RI) dished out a team-high 21 assists. Freshman
middle blocker Erin St. Jacques (Warwick, RI) chipped in with
six kills. |

|
The
Anchorwomen were shut out, 3-0, by the Wildcats in their final match
of the afternoon. Garcia posted eight kills and eight digs. Gervais
and freshman libero Mary Kate Winter (Narragansett, RI)
recorded seven digs apiece, while Enos logged 14 assists. |
|
|
|
In upcoming
action, Rhode Island College will play at Endicott on Thursday, Oct.
18. |
