Eastman and LaBarre Capture No. 3
Doubles Championship at 2007 Little East Conference
Women’s Tennis Championships |

Rhode Island College sophomore
Jaclyn Eastman (Mansfield,
MA)
and freshman Brittany LaBarre (Greenville, RI) captured the
Little East Championship at No. 3 doubles, defeating Bridgewater
State seniors Alison Tripp (South Dennis, MA) and Paula
Araujo (Fall River, MA), 8-4, at the 2007 Little East Conference
Women’s Tennis Championship on Saturday afternoon. |

The
Anchorwomen end the day in second place with 10 points, trailing
Bridgewater State (12.0) by two points. |
|
|
|
The
top-seeded tandem of junior Meg Funk (Oakdale, CT) and senior
Sasha Doonan Rodriguez (Pawtucket, RI) will face the
second-seeded pair of UMass Boston senior Aurora Lormeus (Milton,
MA) and sophomore Emily Johnson (Saugus, MA) in the
championship match of the No. 1 doubles flight tomorrow morning. |

Sophomore
Julie Bannon (Narragansett, RI) and freshman Liz O’Connell
(Harrisville, RI) won their first round match at No. 2 doubles,
before falling in the quarterfinals to UMass Dartmouth freshman
Alexi Fiorta (Reading, MA) and freshman Amber Ubertini
(Dalton, MA), 8-6. |

Funk lost to sixth-seeded UMass Boston senior Aurora Lormeus
(Milton, MA), 9-7, in first round action of the No. 1 singles
flight. |
