CULBERTSON & McDEVITT LEAD OFFENSE AS ANCHORWOMEN FALL, 19-9, IN
SEASON-OPENER |

Seniors Sydney Culbertson (North Kingstown, RI) and Kerry
McDevitt (Jamestown, RI) scored three and two goals,
respectively, but the Rhode
Island College women’s lacrosse team dropped their season-opener,
19-9, at Curry on Tuesday afternoon. |

The Colonels
(4-2) opened up a commanding, 12-3, lead at the half, and outscored
RIC (0-1), 7-6, over the final 30 minutes to earn the win.
Culbertson added four assists for a team-high seven points. |

Rhode Island
College freshman goalkeeper Hilary Switzer (Woonsocket, RI)
made eight saves in her collegiate debut. Senior Sherri Heard
(Coventry, RI), sophomore Meridith Darby (Middletown, RI) and freshmen Suany Almonte (Warwick, RI)
and Melissa Carney (West Haven, CT) rounded out the
Anchorwomen’s offensive production. |

and Meghan Tilley led Curry with five goals apiece. Kerri
Shaw made seven saves to pick up the win in net. |
