ANCHORWOMEN STAY UNBEATEN IN
LITTLE EAST PLAY
Lotti's Five-RBI Afternoon Breaks RIC All-Time Record

Bristol, RI—Rhode Island College won its
15th straight game, improving to 20-7 overall and 4-0 in the Little
East Conference, in a doubleheader sweep of UMass Boston on Friday
afternoon at the Dayna A. Bazar Softball Complex. The Beacons fall
to 3-18 overall and 0-4 in league action. |

Head
Coach Maria Morin, who earlier this spring achieved her 300th
career win, has now guided the Anchorwomen to 10 consecutive seasons
with 20 or more wins. |

Senior first baseman Christie
Lotti (Waterford, CT) went 4-for-5 with five runs scored and
five RBI in the twinbill. She became the Anchorwomen's career RBI
leader (92) with three in the nightcap. |

A
six-run fourth inning led RIC to a 15-2 victory in the opener.
Freshman third baseman Kayla Jandreau (Plainville, CT) went
3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs scored and a triple to pace the
attack. Sophomore starting pitcher Jamie Sacco (Bellingham, MA)
leveled her record at 1-1, allowing two runs on five hits, while
striking out two over five innings of work. UMass Boston junior
starting pitcher Courtney Haroules (Littleton, MA) took the
loss, allowing nine earned runs on seven hits. Sophomore shortstop
Maria Nasta (Andover, MA) accounted for both of the Beacons
runs with a two-run homer (2) in the fifth inning. |

The
Anchorwomen came from behind to take the nightcap, 11-3. The Beacons
took a 2-1 lead in the third, but Haroules was unable to hold RIC at
bay as the Anchorwomen scored eight unanswered runs to win in five
innings. Lotti
went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, three RBI and two steals.
Sophomore starting pitcher Jenna Deveines (Lowville, NY)
picked up her eighth (8-2) victory of the season, allowing two
earned runs on four hits, while striking out three. Haroules took
the loss (1-13). |

upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Little East
Conference rival Keene State on Sunday, Apr. 13 at 1 p.m. |
