SEVEN ON ALL-LITTLE EAST CONFERENCE TEAMS

Earns Third Straight Player of the Year Award;
Perry Tabbed Rookie of the Year

had seven student-athletes named to the 2008 Little East Conference
Softball All-Star Teams. |

Senior first
baseman Christie Lotti (Waterford, CT) was named the Little
East Conference Player of the Year for the third straight season,
the first player in league history to accomplish this feat. She also
garnered her fourth consecutive First Team All-Little East award.
Lotti, who was also named First Team All-New England by the NFCA,
has played in 40 games, starting all of them. She is batting .449
(61-for-136) with 55 runs scored, 10 doubles, three triples, two
home runs, 27 RBI and 21 stolen bases. Lotti owns a .610 slugging
percentage, a .531 on-base percentage and a .990 fielding
percentage. She holds 13 Rhode Island College career records and
eight single-season marks. |

Freshman
second baseman Amanda Perry (New Bedford, MA) was named the
Little East Conference Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Little
East. Perry, who was also named Third Team All-New England as an
At-Large selection by the NFCA, has played in 39 games, starting 36
of them. She is batting .434 (49-for-113) with 39 runs scored, nine
doubles, four triples, three home runs, 36 RBI and three stolen
bases. Perry owns a .664 slugging percentage, a .480 on-base
percentage and a .929 fielding percentage. |

Senior third
baseman Krystal Bilek (Fitchburg, MA) was named Second Team
All-Little East. Bilek, who also named Second Team All-New England
by the NFCA, has played in 26 games, starting 24 of them. She is
batting .448 (30-for-67) with 18 runs scored, eight doubles, three
home runs, 29 RBI and two stolen bases. Bilek owns a .701 slugging
percentage, a .575 on-base percentage and a .957 fielding
percentage. She was named the 2008 Little East Conference Softball
Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. |

Freshman
catcher/designated player/third baseman Kayla Jandreau
(Plainville CT) was named Second Team All-Little East as a
utility player. Jandreau, who was also named Third Team All-New
England as an At-Large selection by the NFCA, has played in 39
games, starting 36 of them. She is batting .398 (43-for-108) with 36
runs scored, five doubles, four triples, four home runs, 32 RBI and
five stolen bases. Jandreau owns a .630 slugging percentage, a .472
on-base percentage and a .953 fielding percentage.

Sophomore
shortstop Kelsey Souza (Braintree, MA) was named Second Team
All-Little East. She has played in 39 games, starting all of them.
Souza is batting .385 (37-for-96) with 30 runs scored, four doubles,
21 RBI and six stolen bases. She owns a .427 slugging percentage, a
.449 on-base percentage and a .949 fielding percentage. |

Sophomore
outfielder Michelle Perrin (Saugus, MA) was named Second Team
All-Little East. She has played in 20 games, starting 17 of them.
Perrin is batting .340 (17-for-50) with 12 runs scored, two doubles,
one triple, 14 RBI and two stolen bases. She owns a .420 slugging
percentage, a .389 on-base percentage and a .905 fielding
percentage. |

Freshman
pitcher Melanie Neece (Westfield, MA) was named Second Team
All-Little East. She has appeared in 28 games, starting 18 of them.
Neece is 18-3 with a 2.13 earned run average, two saves and 118
strikeouts in 128.1 innings pitched. She has 11 complete games and
three shutouts. |

Head Coach
Maria Morin’s Anchorwomen are currently 33-7 and captured their
fourth consecutive Little East Conference Regular Season
Championship, sharing the title with Eastern Connecticut, with a
12-2 league mark. RIC was undefeated, going 4-0, en route to winning
its third straight Little East Conference Softball Tournament this
past weekend. Rhode Island College is currently the top seed in the
2008 NCAA Div. III New England Region Softball Tournament and will
see action on Thursday, Apr. 8 at 4 p.m. against the winner of the
Lesley vs. Wellesley (10 a.m.) game. |
