Island College Wrestling
Ranked No. 1 in New England |

Providence,
RI—The
Rhode Island College wrestling team is currently ranked No. 1
(Div. III) in New England as of the latest New England Wrestling
Association Coaches Poll. The Anchormen are ranked fifth among Div.
I, II and III institutions. |

|
Head Coach
Jay Jones’ team, which was ranked No. 28 nationally (Div. III)
last week, placed first at the Doug Parker Invitational, hosted by
Springfield on Saturday, Nov. 17. The Anchormen totaled 142.50
points, 29.50 points better than second-place U.S. Merchant Marine
Academy (133.0). |

Rhode Island
College opened the season with a first place tie (Bridgewater State)
at the Roger Williams Invitational on Nov. 10 and followed that up
with a 33-12 win over New England College Conference Wrestling
Association (NECWA) and Pilgrim Wrestling League rival M.I.T. on
Nov. 14. |

|
RIC is 1-0
overall, 1-0 in the New England College Conference Wrestling
Association (NECCWA) and 1-0 in the Pilgrim Wrestling League. The
Anchormen are off for the Thanksgiving Day holiday and will resume
action at their home opener vs. Plymouth State on Wednesday, Nov. 28
at 6 p.m. |
