Rhode
Island College Wrestling Continues to Shine
Anchormen
Win R.I.T. Invitational as Bonora,
Martini and Logan Take Individual Titles
|

Rochester,
NY—The
Rhode Island College wrestling team won the R.I.T. Invitational,
placing first among 14 institutions with 121.5 points on Saturday
afternoon. The Anchormen outdistanced No. 13 Wilkes by four points
to win the tourney. Head Coach Jay Jones had eight wrestlers
place at the tournament, with three taking home individual titles. |

Senior
Mike Bonora (Nutley, NJ) was the champion at 141 lbs., going 5-0
to stay unbeaten with a 16-0 record. Bonora, the No. 1-ranked
wrestler in the nation and New England, has totaled 60 takedowns,
five reversals, 17 near-falls and six pins on the season. Bonora has
also notched first place finishes at the Roger Williams Invitational
on Nov. 10 and at the Doug Parker Invitational on Nov. 17. |

Sophomore
Mike Martini (Cranston, RI) was the champion at 157 lbs., going
5-0 to improve his record to 16-4 on the season. He has totaled 25
takedowns, nine reversals, five near-falls and five pins. He also
notched fourth place finishes at the Roger Williams Invitational on
Nov. 10 and at the Doug Parker Invitational on Nov. 17. |

Junior
Nick Logan (Lowell, MA) was the champion at 174 lbs., going 4-0
to improve his record to 15-4. He has totaled 35 takedowns, three
reversals, 10 near-falls and a team-high nine pins. Logan has also
notched a fifth place finish at the Roger Williams Invitational on
Nov. 10 and a third place finish at the Doug Parker Invitational on
Nov. 17. |

Senior
Kevin Davis (Amston, CT) went 4-1 and finished second at 197
lbs. He is 12-3 on the season with 12 takedowns, eight reversals,
seven near-falls and four pins. Davis has also notched a first place
finish at the Roger Williams Invitational on Nov. 10 and a fourth
place finish at the Doug Parker Invitational on Nov. 17. |

Sophomore
Ray Moore (Wrentham, MA) went 4-2 and placed fourth at 197 lbs.
He is 11-6 with 12 takedowns, 12 reversals, 10 near-falls and four
pins on the season. Moore placed fifth at 197 lbs. at the Roger
Williams Invitational on Nov. 10. |

Freshman
Kevin Sutherland (Dauphin, PA) went 4-2 and placed fifth at 149
lbs. He is 15-4 with 21 takedowns, four reversals, 11 near-falls and
four pins on the season. Sutherland placed first at 149 lbs. at the
Roger Williams Invitational on Nov. 10 and fifth at the Doug Parker
Invitational on Nov. 17. |

Freshman
Travis Drappi (West Orange, NJ) went 2-3 and placed sixth at 133
lbs. Drappi is 12-5 with 21 takedowns, three reversals, 10
near-falls and three pins on the season. Drappi notched a second
place finish at the Roger Williams Invitational on Nov. 10 and a
third place finish at the Doug Parker Invitational on Nov. 17. |

Freshman
Brendan Guarino (Lodi, NJ) went 3-2 and placed sixth at 165 lbs.
He is 7-8 with 14 takedowns, two reversals, one near-fall and two
pins on the season. |

|
|
The Anchormen
are currently 2-0 overall, 2-0 against New England College
Conference Wrestling Association (NECCWA) opponents and 1-0 in the
Pilgrim Wrestling League. RIC is currently ranked No. 1 in New
England. |
