Island College Wrestling Ranked 18th Nationally
Bonora
Holds Top Spot at 141 lbs. |

Providence, RI—The
Rhode Island College wrestling team is ranked No. 18 in the nation
(Div. III) in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association
poll. The Anchormen also rank No. 1 in New England (Div. III) for
the third consecutive week in the New England Wrestling
Association’s latest poll. |

Senior
Mike Bonora (Nutley, NJ) is ranked No. 1 in the nation and in
New England at 141 lbs. Bonora was the champion at 141 lbs., going
5-0 to stay unbeaten with a 16-0 record, at the R.I.T. Invitational
on Dec. 1. He has totaled 60 takedowns, five reversals, 17
near-falls and six pins on the season. Bonora has also notched first
place finishes at the Roger Williams Invitational on Nov. 10 and at
the Doug Parker Invitational on Nov. 17. |

Head Coach
Jay Jones’ Anchormen are currently 2-0 overall, 2-0 against New
England College Conference Wrestling Association (NECCWA) opponents
and 1-0 in the Pilgrim Wrestling League. RIC downed Plymouth State,
33-12, on Nov. 28 and captured the R.I.T. Invitational title with a
first place (14 teams) finish on Dec. 1. |

In upcoming
action, Rhode Island College will close out the fall semester at
home against Wesleyan on Friday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. |
